Chelsea boss Tuchel full of praise for Villarreal’s Unai Emery ahead of Super Cup clash

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has expressed his admiration for Villarreal boss Unai Emery ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Super Cup clash.

The two managers clearly have a lot of respect for each other.

Previously, Emery described Tuchel as a “prestigious, successful” coach who has proven himself in different leagues and countries.

Tuchel, on the other hand, highlighted Emery’s accomplishment in the UEFA Europa League.

“I have huge respect for Villarreal, and I have huge respect for Unai Emery,” the Chelsea boss told UEFA’s official website

“I mean, they can call the [UEFA Europa League] trophy the Unai Emery trophy soon!

Unsurprisingly, Tuchel expects a tough battle against the Spanish side in Belfast.

“With Spanish teams, you have to be very careful,” he explained.

“They love this game, and they play this game for ball possession, and they play it with lots and lots of genuine courage.

“So I think they will approach this game [feeling that] they have nothing to lose.

“We will take it very, very seriously and do as best we can to take the next trophy home.”
