Thomas Tuchel on Stamford Bridge open day training

“It was an intense training session,” he said, as he explained he is working the players hard to take advantage of a free midweek ahead of our visit to Arsenal on Sunday and ensure fitness levels are high for the new season.

“Nine players will be doing a second training session later at the training ground as for them pre-season continues. The work continues and at the same time we have to play matches, we have to try to win matches, which luckily we were able to do against Villarreal and Crystal Palace.

“So we are using the time that we have now, because we play on Sunday which gives us a pretty unusual amount of time, with a whole week, for training sessions like today. It also gives us the opportunity to do it in front of our fans, which is always a lot of fun and a great change of routine.”
